Job Description

We are seeking a skilled GIS professional for a 12-month position supporting an Endurance client, with a focus on outside plant mapping—particularly within utility or carrier projects. The ideal candidate will assist in the planning and implementation of a fiber plant installation, leveraging GIS tools and spatial data to ensure accurate and efficient mapping. Candidates with broader utility-related GIS experience are also encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed maps of fiber plant installations using GIS software.
  
• Interpret and analyze spatial data to support project planning and execution.
  
• Collaborate with engineering and field teams to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
  
• Automate data workflows and manage large datasets using Python and SQL.
  
• Present findings and visualizations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  
• Maintain organized records and documentation of mapping activities.
  

Qualifications

• Proficiency in ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar platforms for spatial analysis and map creation.
  
• Strong skills in Python and SQL for data manipulation and automation.
  
• Experience in collecting, cleaning, and managing spatial and non-spatial data.
  
• Ability to model geographic patterns and interpret spatial relationships.
  
• Ability to solve complex geographic problems through data interpretation.
  
• Precision in handling data and creating accurate maps.
  
• Capable of identifying issues and developing solutions independently and collaboratively.
  
• Clear and effective communication of technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  
• Strong interpersonal skills to work across disciplines.
  
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain accurate records under pressure.
  
• 2+ years of experience in GIS roles, preferably in utility or telecom sectors.
  
• Familiarity with fiber plant or outside plant mapping is highly desirable.
  

Preferred Certifications

• GISP (GIS Professional)
  
• Esri Technical Certification
  
• Other relevant GIS or data management certifications
  
• Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
