Job Title: Medical Coding Specialist
Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Medical Coding Specialist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately coding medical diagnoses and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards. This role is crucial in maintaining the integrity of patient records and facilitating efficient billing processes.
Key Responsibilities
Review and analyze medical records to assign appropriate codes for diagnoses and procedures.
Ensure compliance with coding guidelines and regulations, including ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS.
Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and coding discrepancies.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding updates, regulations, and best practices.
Assist in the training and education of staff on coding practices and procedures.
Conduct audits and quality checks to ensure accuracy and completeness of coding.
Support billing and reimbursement processes by providing accurate coding information.
Requirements
Skills and Qualifications:
Certification in medical coding (e.g., CPC, CCS, CCA) is preferred.
Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
Proficient in coding software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance standards.
Requires regular and predictable attendance.
